Why do farms need drone services?
Large agricultural farms in Lithuania – from crop production to livestock – manage hundreds or even thousands of hectares. Maintaining territories of this scale by traditional methods requires significant labour: patrols, transport, night shifts and manual control. This is not only expensive but does not always ensure sufficient responsiveness.
Drone technology allows these processes to be centralised and automated. The DJI Matrice 4T can cover large areas in a single flight that would take days to inspect manually. Thermal imaging adds an extra layer of analysis – detecting live objects, sources of temperature anomalies and hidden processes in vegetation or infrastructure.
Services for the agricultural sector
Livestock search and localisation. Escaped cattle, horses or sheep are quickly found even in complex terrain. Animal body temperature (~38°C) contrasts sharply with the environment, so thermal imaging quickly identifies their location. A single flight can survey up to 500 hectares.
Herd health monitoring. Thermal analysis identifies animals whose body temperature deviates from the norm. This may indicate infections, inflammatory processes or circulatory disorders, enabling timely response and reduced losses.
Drainage and irrigation system control. After heavy rainfall or floods, damaged drainage systems, blockages or erosion zones are identified from the air. GPS coordinates precisely locate problem areas for repair crews.
Damage assessment after natural disasters. Storms, hail or fires can affect large land areas. Drone inspection quickly documents damage, providing visual and thermal data for insurance or compensation processes.
Monitoring of illegal activity and poaching. Night-time thermal monitoring detects human movement in fields or forest areas, ensuring greater farm security.
Inspection of farm buildings and infrastructure. Warehouses, barns and other structures can be quickly assessed for roof defects, moisture or structural damage. Roof inspection identifies problems at an early stage.
Typical use scenarios
Dairy farms (300+ head). Periodic herd monitoring, escaped animal search and identification of health anomalies. Reduces manual labour and response time.
Large pasture farms (1,000+ ha). Regular territory monitoring, infrastructure control and security. Especially relevant in remote locations.
Crop farms (2,000+ ha). Crop condition monitoring, irrigation system control and damage assessment after extreme weather.
Pricing
One-off flights (up to 500 ha) – from €120. Medium-sized territories (500–2,000 ha) – from €250. Urgent deployments (within 24 h) – ~30% surcharge applies.
For periodic farm maintenance, monthly plans are offered (4–8 visits per month) – from €500/month, including flights, analysis and reports. Seasonal contracts receive ~20% optimisation.
The first trial flight can be performed on a demonstration basis to assess how the service fits your specific farm before committing to a long-term solution.
